Simple Youth

Through the fence, between the curling flower spaces, I could see them hitting.  Why the twins were hitting each other, I have no clue.  Since I am their older brother, I of course jumped between them to break them up.
"Alright that's enough you two!" I yelled as I wedged my arms between them.  "Someone want to tell me what's going on here?"
"Bobby won't let me play ball with him and his friends!" Screamed Sue.
" Well, she called me dumb, plus she's a girl!" Bobby yelled back, directed at Sue.
" Well you are dumb!  Ma and Pop only keep you around for the laughs!"
" Well at least I can make them laugh! Stupid girls aren't funny!"
" You're not even funny, just dumb."
       "Shut up!"
"Hey!" I intersected, again. "Bobby go sit in the barn! Sue go sit on the porch! Both of you stay there and don't say a word until I get back!"  I barged into the house in a rage after witnessing the behavior of my 9 year old siblings.  I went to ma's desk and grabbed two pencils and pads of paper.  I marched to the porch and threw the pad of paper down next to sue and said "You are to stay put here until you can write Bobby a heartfelt apology for all those things you just said to him, and anything else you feel he should know.  Bring it to me when you are done, and I will see if it passes inspection!" Then I turned and marched to the barn and gave Bobby the same speech.
It had been a solid half hour now and was almost concerned.  Could they honestly of had that much to write about?  I got up and walked to Sue.
"Sue let me see what you wrote."  She handed me her letter and it read...
    "Dear Bobby,                                                 June 5, 1946
I'm sorry we fight and don't get along.  I only argue with you so you'll think I'm tough, like one of the guys, so I can play football and baseball with you and your friends.  I don't really think you're dumb, I just don't think before I talk...
                                                                  Sincerely,
                                                                     Sissy Sue"
I couldn't help but crack a little smile. "Okay, you can go play now."  She got up and ran off back the the field where I found her, and began chasing  the chickens.
I began making my way to the barn to read Bobby's letter. I opened the barn door and saw him snuggled up with one of the baby goats.  "Alright Bobby, lets see what you wrote to your sister." I said.  His little arm shot out of his snug little goat/boy ball with a crumpled up piece of paper.  I smoothed it out and read it out loud.
          "Dear Sue,                                        June 5, 1946
I wish you would stop trying to be one of the guys.  You're not, you're my sister, I'm supposed to protect you from boys.  So letting you play with my friends makes it likely for one of my friends to hurt you.  I don't wanna have to beat up one of my friends because the hurt my sister by accident.  I love you Sue, you're my best sister I've got! I couldn't live with myself if you got hurt.  There are so many things I could apologize for, but my hand is cramping up and there is a goat licking my ear, so I'm gonna wrap this up. Love you Sue.
                                                                        Sincerely,
                                                                           Bobby
P.S.
Sorry I forgot to give you the mayonnaise"

It's a colorful world.

Lion Cub
Entering the world for the first time is terrifying.  The only thing I can feel is my mother's warm coat and my two siblings next to me, crying and desperate to claim all of mother's attention.  The world is new and cold.  I can't see and can barely hear.  I can hear echos in the background however, saying, "Everyone, meet your new king."
Creaking Door

You enter the dark, paranoia sets in all to quick, the day has passed and the night has begun, the bell tower ring and the bell hums.
That old crumbling bell tower whispers to you, "come inside and we will have some fun, we'll play a game, just you and me and my bell.  Just listen to her sounds, the constant chimes and rings.  Though it could be hard to hear, over the creaking door.  There is one way in and one way out that's through that creaking door, you have a 50% chance you make it out of that door alive, but believe me, you'll love this game I want to play so much, you could almost die.
Candy Apple
Fall is wonderful.  Changes in colors and a crisper air.  Everyone has falling leaves in their hair.  Climbing up trees without a care.  Fall is unique.  The perfect in between.  Cooling us off without turning on frost.  The season of pumpkin's and cider and candy apples, it's hard not to smile when you close your eyes, and imagine fall coming on rise.

Caribbean Sea
The ocean is a vast and mysterious place.  The seaweed is green, the coral is pink, the sandy bottom is grey.  Though what of the water?  The ocean is a complex ecosystem, its life however, would all be dead and gone without water.  Water is a constant for life, though water itself is not constant.  The water cycles in and out everyday. Water off the coasts of Chile could be in Europe the next day.  Not even its colors can stay the same.  In the elegant Caribbean Sea, you'll find crystal reefs as the Arctic Ocean shows a black deathly color.

Famous first, and last words...

First Words...

"Through the fence, between the curling flower spaces,I could see them hitting."

William Faulkner: September 25, 1897- July 6, 1962

The Sound and the Fury (1929)

I must honestly say... I've tried reading the analysis for this book and I have no clue what is being said...  The comic below illustrates how I feel simply over the summaries I have read.
So to sum it up, there is no way someone could get me to read this book considering I can't even understand the summary...

Famous Last Words...

"P.S.
Sorry I forgot to give you the mayonnaise."

Richard Brautigan: 1935-1984

Trout Fishing In America (1967)

Trout Fishing in America is about finding one's self with nature.  Through the summaries I have read over this book, they have mentioned the narrator having flashbacks to boyhood which is were he found himself at peace and at one with nature.

I am drawn to this book because of its title primarily.  Growing up I've loved fly fishing for trout in Arkansas with my dad.  It has always been a great memory for me.  Though I'm to old for our best fishing spot anymore, I'll never forget the adrenaline from when I would hook a giant trout, or when I'd see one swim past my feet that appeared larger than me!

If I were in charge of the world...

If I were in charge of the world, I'd cancel all unnecessary math. So everything after fourth grade. As well as the spawning of mosquitoes.
If I were in charge of the world there would be a home for every horse and a horse in every home.  If I were in charge of the world you wouldn't have to go to school all the time, you wouldn't need a degree to be at the top of your game, and the ACT would be just dust in the wind.
If I were in charge of the world, tomatoes would be a vegetable.
All the horses going through hell would come live with me. and a person who sometimes forgot to say please and sometimes forgot to apologize, could still be allowed to be in charge of the world.

All the jewels...

There were men on tall dark horses.  They were coming for me.  I didn't know what I had done wrong.  Though, in the king's eyes... All was wrong unless done by him.  I had no idea what the king's men wanted with me, I would never know.  I ran to the basement holding my dearest baby brother.  He was only but 5 months old.  The last thing I would have wanted would have been for them to take him.
It was hard to survive under the rule of a king who did not care for the well being of his people.  I had witnessed him, personally hack the head off a young man, simply for the joy of it.  What ever he wanted with me, couldn't have been good.
I tried so hard to hide, but it was no use, I found a basket and placed my brother inside, then walked back up the stairs.  If my fate was death, so be it.  May God have mercy on my gypsy soul. If I am to die, may it be with dignity.  Let no one degrade me.
I reached the top off the stairs and looked the main guard in the eye, then lifted my hands close together, the men acted quick, twisting my arms behind my back and binding my wrists together.  They then threw me on the back of a horse and had me hauled to the kingdom.
I arrived and was thrown to the ground, then dragged to a room full of women servants.  The head guard looked at me, then at the servants, and said, "Make sure she's cleaned up for dinner." Then he slammed the door behind him.  The women approached and led me to a bath, they stripped my clothes and began cleaning me, then dressed me in several layers of silk and a transparent veil.  I felt unfaithful, and unholy.  I was in an outfit suited for only the eyes of a husband, but instead, I knew I was going to be tonight's entertainment.  There were coins and beads hanging from my top, and from my skirt.  Holding my veil in place was a sort of crown with strings of beads hanging from it.
They layered my eyes with thick black make-up and lined my eyes with jewels.  They pierced a hole through my belly button and hung jewels there, and through my ears.
I was brought down to dinner with chains on my wrists and neck, and I was being lead by servants, as if I were a dog.  The humility was unreal.  I couldn't help but think of my family back home.  My sisters and brother, my mother and father, they had no idea where I was.  I reached the dinning room, and I was sat behind a curtain.  I heard a muffled voice from the other side, then the curtain swung open.  There was the king, standing at the top of the steps, and the two princes right beside him.
"Well go on Raamses she's all yours!"  The younger prince said.
" Oh Moses, I believe you can have this one." The older prince said.
" Well I suppose if you insist." Moses said, and the crowds surrounding the court began to chuckle.  He stuck his finger out towards me and said "What a charming desert gem." then he brushed his finger under my chin.  I grew furious.  I was humiliated, being mocked, and I was in chains.  So I struck at him like a viper, and bit his finger. "Ow!" he cried out.  " You little bi-..."
"Guards please take her to prince Moses's chambers and get her ready." Said Rameses. That was the last straw.  They had one man escort me to Moses's room, and as soon as the door closed, I ripped the chains out of his hand, then used all my strength and elbowed the back of his head.  It was my chance to run.  So I did, I used the chains and scaled out the window.  I reached the bottom and heard the servant say, "I'm sorry sir, she's gone, there was nothing I could do!"

The Color Pond

The blue sky reflects off the crystal surface of the tropical lake.  The topaz glimmers on the quiet day shoot off the water in its windless evening.  The atmosphere slowly grows into a dark navy, with glistening gold stars.
In the foliage of the tropical night, were sudden bursts of small golden lights. Between the forrest glow and the light of the stars, the sound of the frogs in the background, chirping, no one could have pictured a more perfect evening.
Upon a beautiful sherbet sunrise, the small lake swarms back to life.  Colorful swarms of ciclids and oscars reflect beautiful floral colors as they dance round each other in the light of the sparkling sun.

Along the shore line is a boarder of beautiful purple flowers.  From lilac lilies and mahogany orchids The small pond valley lit up  like a line up of mother nature's fireworks.
