Stalking the Pump

Crawling, creeping through the grass,
an orange tom cat's tail stays erect.
He's stalking his prey,
a wild shrew.

He leans forward on his belly,
ready to pounce,
Like a torpedo,
he launches from the grass

His prize is nowhere to be seen.
Only three red gas pumps
and a tall, slender man.

The cat was confused.
Where was his shrew?
Possible the sent was masked by gasoline?
Possible.

The man looked at the confused creature
then knelt down.
"Here kitty, kitty."
His hands covered in black grease.

The tom cat was unsure,
this man was unfamiliar,
he smelled chemical,
though he seemed friendly.

The cat approached with caution.
"There you go buddy"
The man said softly
The cat felt reassured.

The man slowly reached around to his pocket,
pulling out a couple strands of jerky.
He offered them to the cat.
Once again, the cat became confused.

"Here, bud. Hungry?"
The cat looked, smelled the meat
the seasoning over powered the gas,
He wanted it

He lunged forward
and took it in his paws,
The man chuckled,
as he watched the Tom cat disappear into the bushes.

Brizo & the Duel

Brizo
A Shepard's Dog.

A scruffy face and smiling eyes,
Gentle and loyal,
He's young, but looks so wise.
Quick to act and slow to anger

His ears are long
His nose is busy,
He'll love you till he's gone
Or till his face is grey

He may not be big,
Though his heart is,
He'll follow you forever.

To the ends of the earth,
Till the end of time,
He'll be by your side,

The Duel

The two studs went at it.
A duel for dominance.
The elder bay stallion,
he had been challenged.

The challenger,
a young grey stud,
played his cards smart and quick,
grasping the for leg of the elder stud.

Little does the grey know,
this is not the bay's first fight,
He jumps and latches onto the neck of the grey,
just at the base of the poll

Blood is falling from both stallions,
The crimson color of the blood flows
It blends simply into the rugged bay arabian,
Where as the grey, is defeated,  glowing with stains

Another battle won for the king.

Rosa Bonheur

Rosa Bonheur was born in 1822 and died in 1899.  She was born is Bordeaux, France to Raimond and Sophie Bonheur. When she was 11 her father left their family to live a reclusive live, not to soon after her mother died simply of working herself to death.  In her artist career she studied under an artist named, Léon Cognient.  She became most well known for her work with oils and little sculpting.  Her most famous works were called The Horse Fair and Ploughing in the Nivernais.  My personal favorites are Brizo, a Shepard's Dog, because the dog's portrait reminds me a lot of my dog, Summer.  A shaggy, scruffy dog with thoughtful eyes and a warm look to its face.  My second is The Duel, it;s a painting of a bay stallion and grey stallion fighting for dominance, the bay has a hold on the grey's neck, which reminds me of when my horse got into a fight with a stallion and took a large wound to the neck.  I'm very excited to write passed off her work.  Rosa Bonheur and I really could have been good friends with the fact we both have such a strong passion for animals.

Maltese Puppies For Sale:

When Stella first came up pregnant, I figured I could sell the puppies to get me out of economic gap.  Now here I am, one week from her due date. Homes already lined up for the four unborn puppies.  Though something in my gut just didn't feel right.I couldn't tell what it was. Stella is my favorite dog I've had in my adult life.  I was very content with her being my only dog.  All the pups were lined up for good homes, with well off families and kids to play with them.  Though, I just couldn't figure it out.  Something felt... Off.
The day finally came, and Stella's third litter finally came.  4 squeaking, whimpering puppies had entered the world.  Three boys and one excitable little girl.  These four were different from the other puppies I bred.

Don't quote me...

I have been blessed with getting to read the works of Sam, Jesse and Daniel.  All three are very talented writers and I look forward to seeing more of their work!

My first thing I read Sam, was her 6 word piece.

  1. I can see where you are coming from when you say "looking for adventure, can be useless."  My interpretation of what you wrote is that you don't necessarily NEED to look for adventure, that it CAN indeed be useless looking for it, because more times than not, it will find you.  Just about a week ago, I was planning on going to the barn to see my horse, average Saturday for me, then there was a yellow lab running through the street no collar and no owner.  I pulled over and picked him up.  He ended up making my ordinary day, extraordinary.
Next I read her newspaper piece.

  1.  I love the beautiful feeling this story presents.  If I close my eyes I can visualize being on the farm, I can smell the french toast and then I could feel the heart wrenching feeling of losing someone you care about.

Then I moved on to Jesse's work and began with his 6 words
  1. I love you're comment "To understand is to do different."  That is very deep.  When I think about that I think of how, if you want to understand things, you need to try different paths.  Very cool line.
Then I looked at his "Don't Quote me on this"
  1. I find this post very interesting.  I mean obviously you don't like this guy AT ALL.  Based upon the quotes a person share, tells me a lot about who that person is.

My final read, was on Daniel's Kermit the frog blog.

6 words or 6000?
